Resolution

By Rob Johnston

RESOLUTION follows the remarkable achievements of Captain James Cook, the son of a farm labourer, through a long and bitter feud with the British Admiralty’s Alexander Dalrymple, map maker to the Royal Navy and celebrated Edinburgh gentleman.
Dalrymple believed it was he, and not the working class upstart Cook, who was destined to be the greatest sea-going explorer the British Empire had ever seen.

“History is written by the victorious” Napoleon Bonaparte once said.

RESOLUTION tells of the history not written by the victorious, nor dismissed by the conquered, but rather a history seen as the greatest prize a man can possess – but a prize no two men can ever share.

Two men. Two dreams. One prize…

The Call

by Stephen Connor

Amidst a sea of industrious construction workers from all walks of life and from an array of different parts of the world, stand Mac and Michael where the world of construction represents complete opposites in each of their lives, engineering conflicting attitudes, beliefs and views on what the profession constitutes.

Although the two are emotionally connected and share a history, the time has come for deep issues to be resolved. Grief, anger and jealousy lead the characters down a road of betrayal and malice where the making of a simple phone call has an unfortunate significance.

The production was sold out for its run at the Greater Manchester Fringe Festival and was nominated fro Best Fringe Play at the Manchester Theatre Awards.

Evening Star

by Andy Pope

A shabby backstreet Mancunian bookies shop lends the setting for this dark, lively and moving comedy.

The odds weigh heavily against the characters that inhabit the world of organised gambling. It seems unlikely that any good can come from the compulsions, pitfalls and retribution that are the results of a serious gambling addiction. You're going to need one hell of a lot of luck to get out of this one and a whole lot of heart to see it through.
